The Breath Knows The Way Home

The Breath Knows The Way Home
Ever since I can remember, I have loved words.

Reading them.
Writing them.
Searching for those rare moments when language comes close enough to touch and capture something true.

For years I wondered whether there was anything left to say...?

Had every beautiful sentence already been written? Every healing thought already spoken?

Then, one quiet morning, a voice inside me whispered:

"Write as though nothing exists beyond your own perception. Because whatever you discover honestly will always be new.
Truth does not belong to those who write first.
It belongs to those who dare to see."

And suddenly I knew where to begin...

With the only place life has ever truly existed.

Right now. Right here. With my breath.

Inhale.

Exhale.

Everything begins here.

Breath is so ordinary that we almost forget it exists. Yet without it, tomorrow never comes...

It is the first gift we receive. The last one we will ever return.

Between those two breaths...an entire lifetime unfolds.

Every love...
Every loss...
Every dream....
Every version of ourselves.

Unlike the beating of our Hearts, breath quietly waits for our attention.

We do not have to breathe consciously.
Yet we can.

That simple choice has fascinated humanity for thousands of years.

Prana... Pneuma... Ruach... Spiritus...

Different words. One mystery.

Life.

Science tells us that tiny clusters of neurons deep within the brainstem keep us breathing without effort.

But science tells only part of the story.

Every breath carries the memory of billions of years of evolution. With every inhale, we receive life from a world that has been breathing long before us. With every exhale, we give a part of ourselves back...

Perhaps we have never been as separate as we imagined.

Perhaps we have always been breathing one another.

Breath is a paradox.

To live, we must receive.

But we must also let go.

An inhale without an exhale cannot sustain life.

Neither can a life that only holds on.

Perhaps emotions first appear in our breath long before they become words...

Fear shortens it. Grief breaks it. Joy lifts it. Love quickens it. Peace softens it into silence.

The breath speaks long before the voice does.

Each day it returns to us tens of thousands of times.

Patiently.

Faithfully.

Never asking who we are.

How much we own. What we have achieved. Whether we succeeded or failed.

It simply arrives.

Again...

And again...

Offering another beginning.

Maybe this is why a single conscious breath can change everything.

Not because the world changes.

But because we return to ourselves.

The breath reminds us that life is never happening somewhere else.

It is happening here.

Now.

Within us.

So pause for a moment.

Place your hand over your Heart.

Take one slow breath...

Feel the quiet miracle unfolding inside your chest.

Life is choosing you...

Once again.

As long as you are breathing,  hope has not left.

Possibility has not left.

You have not left.

Perhaps Home was never a place...

Home has always been one deep breath away.
